GREAT RANDY’S PERFORMANCE AT SILVERSTONE GP ENDS WITH 6TH PLACE

Silverstone, 20 June: the LCR Honda MotoGP rider Randy De Puniet got a positive sixth place in today’s 20-lap British Grand Prix at new Silverstone circuit. The fifth round of the season started today at 13:00 local time and was held in dry conditions with cloudy skies and ambience temperature of 17°.

De Puniet lined up in second place after yesterdays superb performance in qualifying session when he qualified on the front row of the grid for the first time since Assen 2007 and the 29-year-old was extremely pleased with the set up of his RC212V. Having been impressed in the two free practice sessions and in yesterdays qualifying, the Frenchman proceeded with his consistent pace at the 5.902 Km race track in this morning warm up clocking the 4th lap time. The Top Privateer rider put in a heroic performance racing in the leading group throughout the whole race after a brilliant start behind Lorenzo battling for the podium place till four laps to go. Randy holds the sixth place in the world classification and will now move to Netherland for Assen GP on the 26th of June.

De Puniet – 6th

De Puniet: “It was a good race and I had fun but, like in Mugello, I finished behind the leading group. It’s a pity but I feel satisfied anyway. I took a very good start from the front row and I could rely on my machine as we lapped consistently fast for the whole week end. At 4 laps to go the front started to move too much because we raced on front soft tyre (which was the right choice) but probably today’s ground temperature was a bit higher compared to the rest of the week end. We had a great race week end and I am a big fan of this new circuit. The guys gave me an incredible machine here and we can be pleased about this result as we battled for the podium. In my opinion we moved a step forward in this week end and will do our best to keep the sixth position in the world classification”.
