Indianapolis, 27 August: The 2010 season continues its march towards the decisive part of the season with round 11 of 18 taking place at Indianapolis race track this weekend so the LCR Honda MotoGP Team head to the mid-west America before moving to Italy next week for the crowded Misano GP. The American circuit is known as the Brickyard due to over three million paving bricks that used to cover the whole surface, today just less than a metre of these bricks exist at the start line known as the “Yard of the Bricks”.
LCR Honda RC212V racer Randy De Puniet comes to Brickyard just 6 weeks after a broken leg and he attempts to regain the highest privateer honour. The 29-year-old continued an aggressive rehabilitation programme in the last 10 days after his comeback at Brno GP but he concedes it won’t be easy to ride at the American circuit which counts ten left corners (6 right).
De Puniet: “Brno was a very positive race for me and the team. We gained a deserved 10th place despite the injury. Indianapolis is almost a new track for us and we do not have so many data to check. The grip level is different in every part of the surface. I do not like this track so much and in my opinion it is not safe enough. Last year I was there despite the injury of my left ankle and once again this year I am not at 100% but I am not worried about it. Indy has a lot of left corners which is not helpful for my leg but in the last 10 days I made a lot of sport to reinforce the muscles so I feel confident ahead the American GP. I will try to finish in the top eight this time”.
